Na het lezen van "Even voorstellen" van Freek-T, die als doel heeft om binnen 4 jaar bij de KLPD te gaan werken, herinnerde ik dat de KLPD ook nog Mercedes 190 heeft gereden. Ben echter benieuwd welk model dit was, 2.3 16? Van wanneer tot wanneer? waarom gestopt? Foto's? Info welkom!

Volgens mij was de 190 die de KLPD reed een Basis 2.0?

Even gesurfd en er twee gespot, en er rijdt niemand meer in. Kentekens komen niet meer voor in het register.

Nou, verzinnen het schijnt dat deze in bepertke oplage gemaakt is. Hier nog een.

Voordat Mercedes ook maar nadacht over een compact of een A-klasse was er Schultz. Tuner en best wel te porren om van een Mercedes 190 een hatchback te maken. Als basis namen ze het liefst een 2.5 16V.

Een echte jaren ’80 premium hatchback. Het model komt dan wel uit 90/91, de 190E was toen al veel ouder. Nu was premium in de eighties nog niet zo hip en waren hatchback’s duidelijk minder populair. Veel Schultz City’s zijn er nooit gemaakt.
Hoewel de overhang erg kort is en er veel gewicht ontbreekt zijn gewoon de achterwielen aangedreven. Glijden geblazen. Zeker met de 2.5 16V waar Schultz zo dol op was. Standaard was dat blok al goed voor 204pk, met wat milde tuning ging de Schultz daar nog wel overheen. Zo vergrootte zij onder andere de cilinder inhoud naar 2,6 liter.
Bij de verbouwing verloor de W201 wel een bruikbare achterbank en ook de portieren moesten er uit. Dan bleef het geheel nog stijf genoeg.
Qua schoonheid neig ik deze hatch in hetzelfde vakje te zetten als de nieuwe Mercedes A-klasse. Met neus, geen kont en een beetje een raar geheel. Bijzonder is de auto wel en met dit oude beestje kan je tenminste driften. Als je niet meteen rond spint tenminste. Naast de hatch maakte Schultz ook cabrio’s en stations van de Mercedes W201. Is wel bruut met die motor,maar ik blijf het een raar gezicht vinden.

Ben eigenlijk wel benieuwd waar ze de brandstoftank hebben gelaten?
Als die rechtop boven de achteras staat, heb je ook aan die kofferklep niet echt veel

Zelfde probleem zie je bij veel W126 T-ombouwprojecten. Hebben ze de originele tank laten zitten, en dus geen laadvloer.

De KLPD had volgens mij voornamelijk 2.6 en een paar 190D,s.

Klopt, die SF-25-GH was een 190D en ook die is geëxporteerd.. Jammer

Wat zie ik op die foto, een achterruit wisser op een W201. Kan toch nooit een optie geweest zijn.

De KLPD W201 had inderdaad een wisser op de achterruit. Zo konden ze beter door de achterruit kijken als ze bij slecht weer op de vluchtstrook achteruit moesten rijden. Ook werd dit gedaan om het display waarop 'Politie stop' staat beter zichtbaar te maken. Dat display zit namelijk achter de achterruit.
